Tasting
Fine, even bubbles. Notes of red berries (blackcurrant, raspberry) and citrus fruit on the nose are followed by a delectable palate, bursting with vivacity and freshness.
2023 Joseph Mellot "Les Mornieres" Chinon, Loire Valley, France $24.99
Joseph Mellot Les Morinières Chinon is dry, youthful, unoaked, acid drived red wine with raspberry, roasted red pepper, and cruhed gravel flavors for drinking over the short term. Joseph Mellot is a family owned estate which dates back over 500 years with one member of the family having been the wine advisor of Louis XIV. The estate is managed on a reasoned basis with synthetic treatments used only when required. The vineyard, Les Morinières, boasts well-drained limestone and clay soils, which contribute to the lean profile and fresh style of the wine. The wine is made in neutral vessels with a shorter vatting time to capture a uouthful and pure style. This is a great choice for spring dishes with young lamb and new vegetables.
2023 Joseph Mellot Sincerite Sauvignon Blanc, Loire Valley, France $17.99
Another great alternative to Sancerre! Its nose is quite expressive and complex. It evolves all along the tasting. It opens beautifully on exotic fruits, green mango, citrus, honey, and a hint of menthol. The mouth is powerful, round, and harmonious. One can taste fresh grapes but also a refreshing and sharp minerality. It is a particularly long-lasting wine.
Pierre-Etienne Mellot certainly could not have imagined that, in 1513, he would be the first link in a great wine-growing story! Wine-maker by trade, he laid the foundations of a small vineyard at Sancerre, that every generation has since been able to preserve, enhance and improve. So the Mellot family can proudly assert that they have always made wine, and few domains in France can claim such a heritage.
Fermentation: in thermoregulatedstainless-steel vats. Ageing: on fine lees in stainless-steel vats.
2023 Joseph Mellot Sancerre Sancerre Silex "La Chatellenie", Loire Valley, France $41.99
Sauvignon Blanc from vines averaging 25 years, planted in flint clay (argiles à silex) soils in the Loire Valley of France. The wine was fermented and aged in stainless steel.
The 2023 Joseph Mellot Sancerre La Chatellenie opens with a pleasing aroma of lemon and other citrus plus pear, some floral touches and lots of mineral notes. It’s a great start.
The wine tastes juicy, rich and flavorful yet is also light, lively and delicious. Featuring great balance, it also has a wonderful minerality to it with plenty of sea salt notes plus some other flinty, chalky notes.
2023 Masion Albert Bichot "Roche Rose" Brouilly, Beaujolais, France $38.99
Located in the southern Beaujolais, Brouilly is one of the most well-known and geographically widespread vineyards in the region. The vines here fl ourish on a steep slope composed of diverse types of soil and rock, but which are predominantly pink granite ("gohr") based.
Tasting notes
This Brouilly Roche Rose is redolent of subtle aromas of wild cherry, blackcurrant, and blackberry with a hint of spice. The palate is refreshing and fleshy with supple, well-integrated tannins. The finish is refreshing with lasting fruitiness.
Food/wine pairing
This wine is a fine accompaniment to barbecued, grilled and roasted meats, as well as mild cheeses

The vines are planted on terraces, which have full southern exposure and the ground is primarily composed of rounded stones and gravely soil.
AGING 40% in 1 to 3 year old oak barrels 10 to 15 months
Intense garnet-purplish red colour, which becomes more ruby over the
years. Powerful and complex nose with aromas of ripe fruit, truffle and forest undergrowth enhanced by subtle notes of spice. Lovely harmony between oak and fruit on the palate. Delectable and convivial, typical of its terroir, this wine is an invitation to travel to Provence.
