The Wines

2022 Love & Squalor Dry Riesling, Willamette Valley, Oregon $26.99
95 points Paul Gregutt: "If you like your Riesling bone dry with the sort of lip-smacking juiciness that is as close to sucking on a lemon as a wine can be, here’s your bottle. And I mean that in a good way. Beyond the lemon you’ll find grapefruit, tangerine, a squeeze of lime… you get the picture. Dry Rieslings can be so dry the fruit feels desiccated; not here. This wine is bursting wide open with fruit, which carries the flavors bright and bold through a lingering finish. 110 cases."

2024 Antiquum Farm Daisy Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley, Oregon $34.99
100% Pinot Gris from 20 year old vines. The wine is barrel fermented with indigenous yeasts, and the malolactic conversion happens spontaneously. It rests on the lees for 8 months in 50% stainless steel and 50% neutral French oak. The lees are gently stirred to build texture before finally allowing the wine to settle naturally prior to bottling.

Precise aromatics with notes of citrus zest, ginger, ocean spray, jasmine, and white peach. A voluptuously layered texture leads to crisp, finely tuned acidity striking a razor’s edge balance between complex texture, freshness, and depth. 13.2% alcohol. Around 900 cases produced.

2024 Antiquum Farm Aurosa Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley, Oregon $45.99
100% Pinot Gris from 20 year old vines. The grapes for this cuvée are grown more like a high end Pinot Noir, employing more sun exposure to the clusters and shoot positioning throughout the growing season. This ensures a thickening of the skins and allows a fuller spectrum of flavor and aromatic development. Conversely, the yields are elevated to increase acidity, repress sugars, and lengthen hang time. The increased crop loads helps to retain a framework of minerality and acidity.

The fruit is picked before sunrise and destemmed immediately. Juice remains on the skins for 72 hours before pressing. Primary fermentation and malolactic conversion occur spontaneously in 100% neutral French oak barrels. The wine rests on the lees for 8 months to build texture and flavor.

Highly perfumed aromatics of fresh apricot, alpine strawberry, and hibiscus flowers build to a crescendo of bright nectarine, Asian pear, orchard flower, and tropical fruit. Lively on the palate.  Medium acidity with a whisper of silky rose hip tannin on the finish, giving the wine tension and verve.

2023 Love & Squalor Gamay, Willamette Valley, Oregon $35.99
Love & Squalor's Gamay Noir is consistently one of my favorite wines in all of the Willamette Valley. The whole cluster fruit went through two weeks of carbonic maceration, then malolactic fermentation, before resting in neutral barriques for 11 months. It is packed with aromas and flavors of raspberries, sweet pea flowers, jasmine tea and black pepper. The light-bodied wine feels graceful and airy on the palate, as its acidity causes the mouth to water like an automatic sprinkler. This is joyous juice. — Michael Alberty, Wine Enthusiast.

2024 Love & Squalor Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon $34.99
The hills are alive with the smell of Pinot! This multi-vineyard Willamette Valley blend sings out of roses, potpourri and herbs, with smooth cherry and mixed dark fruits bringing up the bottom of the scale. The lively acid dances you through to a memorable finale of cherry, biscuit and cocoa.

Vineyard Composition:
44% Gemini Vineyard - Laurelwood AVA
18% Barnes Vineyard - Cascade Foothills, WV AVA
15% Ribbon Ridge Vineyard - Ribbon Ridge AVA
10% Arlyn Vineyard - Chehalem Mts. AVA
8% Sunnyside Vineyard - East Salem, WV AVA
Winemaking: The grapes were carefully sorted and mostly destemmed. The small-lot fermentations were un-inoculated and punched gently hand. Once dry, the must was pressed and sent to barrel after a short settling period. The wine was aged in completely neutral French cooperage for the duration of its elevage. The final blend contains 16% whole cluster.

2023 Antiquum Farm Juel Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon $59.99

“The 2023 Juel displays a sense of movement through the entire spectrum of the vineyard. The higher, ethereal tones from the edges of our vineyard are displayed in delicate notes of soft violets, and zesty blood orange dance across the palate. Meanwhile, from the heart of the vineyard, deeper, sultry flavors of plump, juicy plums, vibrant raspberries, and the earthy whispers of the forest floor unfold like a well-kept secret.

Juel masterfully intertwines the contrasting melodies of our vineyard into an enchanting symphony. Bound by an electrifying current and an effortlessly elegant foundation, you are invited to join in the revelry of each sip.

In the distance, a coyote laments…the fruit for Juel is hand-harvested in the dead of night to ensure they arrive at the winery fresh, vibrant, and alive. After a three to four-day cold soak, spontaneous fermentation begins with native yeasts brought in with the fruit from the vineyard. The voice of the vineyard is further coaxed to life in the cellar by daily hand punch downs bringing the voice of this fruit into song. The wine is then gently pressed and barreled down into French oak barrels (30% new) for ten months before blending and bottling.”
