The Wines

2025 Stift Goettweig "Meisswein" Gruner Veltliner, Niederosterreich, Austria $29.99
The wine displays aromas of delightful pear, red apple skin and musk, with hints of rosewater and spiced lychee. On the palate, pear, red apple and lime fruits.

Winemaking Process: The Göttweiger Messwein, or altar wine, has been an institution in this Benedictine monastery for centuries. The Grüner Veltliner is vinified as a light, dry wine. From the nature-friendly cultivation of the vineyards to the care and processing of the grapes and wine, the purity law of the church must be strictly observed — Messwein cannot be produced without the permission of the bishop, and it must be entirely natural and unaltered.

Winemaker: Stift Göttweig is located among the rolling countryside on the south bank of the Danube opposite the town of Krems, at 449 metres above sea level. Since 2006, winegrower Fritz Miesbauer and his team have been reliving history on the Stift Göttweig estate.

2025 Ress White Rabit Riesling, Rhineland, Germany $21.99
This is a light and fresh Riesling with slight herbal grassy notes on the nose and on the palate there are flavours of sweet tropical fruits that is balanced perfectly with acidity. A perfect wine to enjoy on its own or with any light snack or meal.

2023 Balthasar Ress Von Unserm Riesling Troken Rheingau, Germany $32.99
The Balthasar Ress Riesling Von Unserm Trocken 2023 is a dry, organic German white wine from the Rheingau region. The wine has vibrant aromas of green apple, pear, lime zest, and hints of exotic fruits (kiwi, passionfruit), with a palate offering bright acidity, a smooth texture, and notes of slate, quince, and spice, making it a classic, refreshing, terroir-driven Riesling great with seafood, spicy dishes, or soft cheeses.

2022 Balthasar Ress Red Rabbit Pinot Noir, Rheinhessen, Germany $22.99
Complex aromas of red berries, wild herbs and flint. Still very youthful on the lively, barely medium-bodied palate. The healthy tannins gently build in the crisp finish. Should benefit from further bottle age. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. -Stuart Pigott, Jan 2025

2020 Heitlinger Pinot Noir, Baden, Germany $39.99
FALSTAFF MAGAZINE 91+ POINTS Light ruby red. Classic varietal aromas. Cherry, raspberry, allspice, cranberry and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, a persistent and striking acidity, almost lean in body, nice tannins, clean fruit, savoury, good finish.

Founded in 1960, Heitlinger is Burg Ravensburg's mirror image: 85% of plantings in Burgundy varieties (Spätburgunder, Grauburgunder, Weißburgunder, Auxerrois, Chardonnay), with Riesling reduced to a minor role. The vineyards sit high on marls and sandstone around 210 million years old that turn white, purple, red, and variegated within a few hundred meters. Oak for some of the estate's barrels is harvested from its own hill above the Grosse Lage Eichelberg. Together, Heitlinger and Burg Ravensburg farm a combined 115 hectares biodynamically, and their ability to offer a comprehensive range at that scale and quality is reminiscent of Austrian estates like Bründlmayer and Schloss Gobelsburg.
