NV Eyrie "Spark" Sparkling Rose Ultra Brut, Willamette Valley, Oregon $26.99
This Sparkling Rosé Brut NV from winemaker Jason Lett comes from an innovative blend of grapes that provide a spritely mousse with notes of strawberry and lemon peel that leads to a refreshing & mineral-driven finish.
A truly unique blend of 8% Pinot Blanc, 55% Pinot Noir and 37% Chasselas Doré. Grape sources are 86% organically-certified & come from vines on Jory volcanic soils. Fermentation and aging occurred in a mixture of wood barrels and stainless steel. Full malo and an average of 12 months on lees lend a subtle richness with zero residual sugar. As the final step, the wine carbonated to 4.1 atmospheres of pressure and bottled under crown cap.
Taste: Medium to deep cherry-pink in the glass with aromas of cantaloupe, berries, and citrus along with some secondary notes of stone and toast. Pear and citrus rind develop on the palate over a structure of crisp acids and creamy fruit notes. An initial rush of exuberant bubbles is quickly followed by a soft effervescence. Slight astringency balances the richness from extended lees contact, and deftly carries the mineral finishing tones of blood orange and wild strawberries.
2024 Garageland Willamette Rosé, Willamette Valley, Oregon $19.99
Rosé of Pinot Noir. This rosé has a medium body while staying graceful and light on its toes. The fruit component is slightly sweet and inviting, with just enough umami and earth to ground it. The finish is long and bright, begging for another sip. Like all of my wines, this bottling reflects a hands-off winemaking style, and draws focus to the vibrant delicacy, heady aromatics, and natural acidity that are the hallmarks of a well-balanced wine.
2019 Martin Woods Gamay, Willamette Valley, Oregon $40.99
Crunchy cranberry & black cherry—mineral/spice/pepper/floral/herbal accents—palate is fresh, focused, tense with a lithe balance and framed by gentle tannin structure—a youthful and versatile wine offering much pleasure.
Vineyards - Havlin and Tualatin Estate - Sustainably dry farmed. 40% Whole Cluster. Bottled Unfined.
2022 Garageland Willamette Pinot, Willamette Valley, Oregon $25.99
Love & Squalor’s side-label, Garageland shows the strength of the vintage with a lovely black cherry heart complemented by surprising depth and complexity for such a humble price. Color us impressed!
From brainchild Matt Berson (of Love & Squalor fame): Garageland Pinot Noir is a multi-vineyard and multi-appellation Willamette Valley blend. The name is stolen from The Clash punk-rock song, and is an homage to all of the artisans—from musicians and painters, to vintners and food makers, who toil away behind nondescript roll-up garage doors.
2017 Westrey Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon $33.99
Late season rain was a welcome event for the dry soil. The deep tap-roots of these un-irrigated vines meant no excess moisture reached the fruit. Excellent ripening and picking weather followed, with signature Oregon warm days and cool nights. The result is a beautifully aromatic, delicate, balanced Pinot Noir. 93 points, Decanter, July 2024.
Westrey Wine Company was founded in 1993 by co-winemakers Amy Wesselman and David Autrey in Oregon’s burgeoning Willamette Valley. Amy and David focus on crafting elegant Pinot Noir wines, fruit-driven Burgundian-style Chardonnay and crisp, refreshing Pinot Gris. The wines are designed to be balanced and ageworthy, always complementing and enlivening the food with which they are served.
2022 Martin Woods Cab Franc, Walla Walla, Oregon $50.99
Classic, varietally pure aromas...fragrant garden herbs and peppers—ripe cherry kirsch fruit, silken and refreshing—balanced, refined structure, energetic texture with a long resonant finish.
Tightly demarcated by virtue of a single soil series (Freewater Series) and a single land form (alluvial fan), the Rocks District of Milton-Freewater exists entirely on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla Valley. RockBar is situated in the middle of this highly distinctive terroir, where large cobblestones have collected over a hundred feet deep. Seven Hills Vineyard is a historic vineyard planted only steps outside of the Rocks District.
