The Wines

2022 Ingrid Groiss "Ried Der Schablau" Gruner Veltliner, Weinviertel, Niederösterreich, Austria $34.99
White pepper, crushed sage, and a touch of citrus promise savoriness. The palate delivers with full-on white pepper spiciness, slender freshness, and lovely, pithy, salty, yeasty texture. This is a little pepper bomb full of life and verve. The finish is dry and appetizing. A wine that is always inviting and animating to drink and enjoy all day long.
Weingut Ingrid Groiss operates as a true small family business with Ingrid at the helm, her father helping with tractor work, and her mother assisting in the vineyards. The family oversees 20 hectares (49.4 acres) of organic vineyards, crafting a focused range of wines, including four single vineyard wines grown on 50-year-old vines. Ingrid Groiss studied winemaking at Universität für Bodenkultur and returned home to eventually inherit vineyards from both her mother’s and father’s sides of the family. Upon taking over the family vineyards, Ingrid converted them to organics and narrowed their range to produce only wines that reflected their terroir, grape variety, and vintage.

2021 Sattlerhoff Sauvignon Blanc Gamlitz, Austria $34.99
Grown on limestone and sand in the rolling hills of Südsteiermark, Gamlitz is Sattlerhof’s most direct and transparent take on Sauvignon Blanc. The 2021 vintage leans into the region’s strengths—cool climate freshness, detailed aromatics, and a subtle mineral backbone that keeps everything taut and clear.

This isn’t fruit-forward Sauvignon. Instead, it leads with green herbs, citrus peel, and wet stone, layered over a lean, structured palate. There's lift, but also quiet complexity—more alpine stream than tropical breeze. It’s fermented and aged in stainless steel to preserve purity, and the result is a wine that reads like a conversation between Sancerre and the Styrian hills.

Pair it with fresh goat cheese, asparagus, or delicate seafood. For Sauvignon Blanc drinkers looking for something a little less obvious—and for white wine lovers who crave energy over weight—Gamlitz is a beautiful discovery.

2023 Tenuta di Fessina - Etna Bianco Erse, Sicily, Italy $29.99
VARIETALS: Carricante 90%, Catarratto, Minnella 10%
Tasting Notes: The Etna Bianco Erse opens with rich citrus and wild herb hints, sage and tangerine are layered on the palate with mineral and salt air echoes. Flint and graphite on the finish leave the mouth salivating for more.

Estate History: The Tenuta di Fessina winery is the work of Silvia Maestrelli who moved from Milan to Sicily in 2006. She fell in love with Etna and the wines there and began the hard work of becoming one of the first women to open a winery on the volcano. Being a pioneer wasn’t enough for Silvia, she also wanted to protect the history and culture of Mt. Etna, utilizing old vines, ancient techniques and crafting uniquely feminine wines from the vibrant, volcanic soils.

2021 Paul Achs Zweigelt, Burgenland, Austria $23.99
The 2021 Weingut Paul Achs Zweigelt is a vibrant red wine from Burgenland. It boasts ripe red fruit aromas with floral and spicy hints. On the palate, it's balanced with juicy fruit, gentle tannins, and refreshing acidity, along with subtle pepper and earthy notes. The finish is medium with a lingering red fruit essence. Overall, it's an elegant and versatile wine suitable for various occasions and food pairings.

2021 Paul Achs Ried Golser Edelgrund Blaufränkisch, Burgenland, Austria $34.99
Full-bodied, fresh, and silky on the palate, this is a tension, super intense, fine, and refreshing Blaufränkisch with concentrated fruit and ripe tannins.
In 1991, at 22 years old, Paul Achs took the lead of the family winery in Gols, Austria, where his family had been working in the wine industry since 1684. Gols is a small winemaking village located in the Neusiedlersee district of Austria’s Burgenland region, 60 km (37 miles) southeast of Vienna near the Hungarian border. In 2006, The Paul Achs winery received biodynamic certification for their meticulous care and thoughtfulness in tending to their vines and winemaking process.
AGE OF VINE: 23-57 years.  HARVEST: Selective hand picking of the grapes, fermented in stainless steel tanks. 24 days of maceration, then 11 months storage in used barrels.

2023 Tenuta di Fessina - Etna Rosso Erse, Sicily, Italy $27.99
VARIETY: Nerello Mascalese 90%, Nerello Cappuccio 8%, Minnella, Carricante 2%
COLOR: light ruby
FRAGRANCES: wild blackberries, coriander, cloves, allspice and pink pepper
TASTE: soft and austere tannins. Round and spicy, Erse tells an ancient story linked to artisan winemaking from the Etna region, where for hundreds of years the red berry was mixed with the white one, a marriage between indigenous varietals. A snapshot of our vineyard composed of mixed berries whose flavors and roots blend together, giving a feminine complexity
In 2007 Tenuta di Fessina was founded in the village of Rovittello on the northeastern side of Mt. Etna. They have 17 acres of vineyards in Rovittello (2,200 feet) and 6 acres between Milo and Santa Maria di Licodìa (3,280 feet). These vineyards are located on different sides of the mountain in order to produce the best expressions of the indigenous varietals. There has also been a strong focus on hospitality: Seven rooms for guests were built inside a 17th-century structure on the property. In collaboration with winemaker Federico Curtaz, the winery has created one of the most successful and recognizable cellars in the Etna area and has become an exemplary ambassador of new Sicilian viticulture.
