Mark Vlossak began St. Innocent Winery in the Willamette Valley in 1988 and quickly established himself as one of the premier winemakers in the area, finding sites that had potential to produce wines with a true sense of place.
Today, under Mark’s leadership, the winery continues to produce outstanding wines from esteemed sites within the Willamette Valley. Our estate vineyard was planted in 2018 and we expect to harvest our first fruit in 2022. Vickianne Vlossak’s daughter Makenzie has spent the last several years working harvests in Oregon and Germany and is training with Mark to eventually take over the reins at St. Innocent. Our winery produces critically acclaimed Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Riesling, along with a small program devoted to sparkling wines produced in the traditional method.
The Wines
NV St. Innocent Cremant Rose, Willamette Valley, Oregon $48.99
“A 90-10 blend of Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir, this gentle sparkler has a Wimbledon nose of strawberries and cream. Additional aromas include fig, chalkboard dust and a mildly bitter herbal note. Strawberries return on the creamy palate, joined by lime zest and a touch of rhubarb pie.” -Michael Alberty, Wine Enthusiast.
St. Innocent Sparkling Crémant Rosé is grown on Freedom Hill Vineyard. Freedom Hill is located in the foothills of the coast range 10 miles southwest of Salem, Oregon. The vines were planted in 1999 and 2008 on well-drained silty clay loam. The vineyard has a southeast exposure at an elevation of 425’ and benefits from heat rising off the valley floor. Hills to the east protect the vines from strong coastal winds.
2023 St Innocent Freedom Hill Pinot Blanc, Willamette Valley, Oregon $26.99
Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot blanc is a wine I love to enjoy with appetizers and especially shellfish. The aromas always remind me of going to a fruit stand in the fall and smelling all the varieties of apples and pears. This lovely vintage also has an appealing aroma of white flowers - think lemon blossoms or fresh basil. On the palate there is a touch of salinity, perfect for shellfish, that comes from the very old uplifted marine seabed that the vines grow in. The richness on the palate extends nicely into a finish of dried apples and meyer lemon. Enjoy with crab rangoon, oysters Rockefeller, steamed mussels, and stuffed mushroom caps.
This Pinot blanc is produced in a style to accentuate texture and ripe fruit flavors. The must was fermented 24% in an Acacia cask and 76% in tank and aged for eight months on the lees.
2022 St Innocent Freedom Hill Chardonnay, Willamette Valley, Oregon $36.99
Pale, yellow gold color. Layered aromas of peach, mango, yellow plum, daffodils, and stony minerality. Rich and broad flavors of peach compote, grilled mango, and brioche, with hints of ginger and wet limestone. This is supported by a lively, juicy acidity that elevates the flavors on the palate and extends them broadly across your mouth. Freedom Hill Chardonnay pairs with a wide range of foods and is especially good with rich flavors, grilled fish, poultry, pasta primavera, and even asparagus. Lovely now; it can also age a decade or more.
The grapes were whole-cluster pressed. After settling, the juice was barrel-fermented with indigenous yeasts. The wine completed malolactic fermentation naturally and was aged on the lees for eleven months entirely in French oak barrels.
2024 St Innocent Villages Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon $27.99
Our 2024 Villages Cuvée Pinot noir includes fruit from our estate, Enchanted Way Vineyard. This inclusion has elevated the flavor profile of the resulting wine, with the character of our estate vineyard dominating the nose and the palate.
Temperance Hill Vineyard 34%, Enchanted Way Vineyard 28%, Freedom Hill Vineyard 24%, Shea Vineyard 14%
The Villages Cuvée is our way of sharing the essence of Oregon’s diverse vineyards in one approachable wine.
This wine is meant to be versatile, perfect with a weeknight dinner or sharing with friends around the table. Like all our Villages Cuvée bottlings, it’s crafted with the same care and attention as our single-vineyard wines, offering a taste of Oregon Pinot Noir that’s both expressive and effortlessly approachable.
2021 St Innocent Temperance Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon $48.99
Another wonderful Pinot Noir from the winemaking team of St. Innocent. It boasts a bright ruby-garnet core with a lighter purple rim and starts off with aromas of macerated strawberries, wet earth, dried flowers, and shades of dark chocolate. More blue-fruited on the palate with gobs of sweet spice and earthiness that hit the back palate on the finish. Tannins are present but well integrated and should help this wine age wonderfully for the next 8-10 years. - October, 2024, International Wine Report - Jeremy Young 94 Points
Temperance Hill Vineyard is located in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA, ten miles NW of Salem, Oregon, and is organically farmed. This exposed, cool high-altitude site ripens later than surrounding vineyards. Our Pinot noir grapes come from two blocks planted on thin weathered basalt. The East Block planted in 1984 with Pommard clone is on a SE facing hill rising to 870’ and the “R” block planted with Pommard, 667, and Wadenswil clones in 2004 is on a gentle south slope.
The de-stemmed grapes were fermented in 4-8 ton stainless steel and Burgundy oak fermenters with no SO2, allowing the fermentation to proceed naturally. After gentle pressing and settling, the wine aged in French oak barrels, 15% of which were new, for 16 months before bottling by gravity without fining.
2021 St Innocent Momtazi Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon $49.99
95 pts, Wine Enthusiast. If you love ripe blackberries, you will fall head over heels for the way this wine smells. The berries are joined by aromas of cherry blossoms, wet stones and a touch of seared steak. There’s balance here, with silky tannins and snappy acidity backing flavors like blackcap raspberries, orange zest and cedarwood.
Momtazi Vineyard is located in the McMinnville AVA, 7 miles west of McMinnville, Oregon. The grapes for this wine come from four blocks at the top of the vineyard on steep, exposed and windblown hillsides. Planted in 1999 and 2004 on thin, poor soils, the vines have a south and SW exposure at an elevation of 680-760’. The vineyard is certified biodynamic by Demeter.

2021 St Innocent Freedom Hill Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon $48.99
94 pts, Vinous Like cracking open an ashen stone to find a bevy of autumnal spices, incense, dried citrus peels and sage,
the 2021 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard makes itself known in the glass. This is silky and enveloping, nearly weighty in feel, matched bydepths of ripe red and blue fruits that swirl across a stream of tantalizing acidity. Sweet mineral tones
form a crunchy sensation toward the close as them 2021 leaves the palate reeling with spicy tension, tapering off tannic yet fresh. If you choose to pop the 2021 today, make sure to give it a good decant to allow its aromatics to fully open.
