The Wines

2024 Demarie Roero Arneis, Piedmont, Italy $22.99
Full-bodied, robust and intense, composite and delicate. Floral as well as fruity nuances of peach and apricot FLAVOUR: dry, palatable and pleasantly harmonic. Fresh and persistent with a slightly almond aftertaste

In traditional local culture, the name Arneis is given to someone who is an extrovert, a bit of a rebel, original but with a certain charm.  For this reason we are proud to present this fine white wine from the Roero hills, as it shows all the excellent qualities of its name.  The sandy terroir provides this wine with a full intense aroma, and the limestone and clay, its strong body and structure.  One of the great white wines of the area, Arneis is the result of a lucky rediscovery, due to the intuition, headstrong passion, and the business capacity of the winegrowers of the Roero region.  Within a very short time, this authentic champion of local winemaking has made itself a name in the list of international quality wines.

2025 Le Moretto Chiaretto Rose Classico, Veneto, Italy $19.99
Delicate yet vividly expressive, the 2024 Chiaretto Classico Rosato from Le Morette is a benchmark rosé from Lake Garda’s shores. Pale pink with a silvery hue, it offers a fragrant bouquet of alpine strawberries, white peach, and rose petals. The palate is crisp and focused, with lively acidity, a silky texture, and subtle saline minerality that carries through to a dry, refreshing finish.

This classic rosato is made in the traditional Bardolino Chiaretto style, blending Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara from vineyards in the heart of the Classico zone near Lake Garda. The 2024 vintage reflects a cool, balanced growing season, contributing to the wine’s aromatic precision and vibrant freshness. After a short skin maceration to achieve its signature pale hue, the juice undergoes a cool fermentation in stainless steel to preserve purity and delicacy. Bottled young to highlight its freshness, the wine bursts with red currant, citrus zest, and herbal nuance. Perfect alongside prosciutto and melon, grilled prawns, Caprese salad, or simply as a chilled aperitivo.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Le Morette is a family-run winery founded in 1960 by the Valerio family, situated near the southern banks of Lake Garda in the heart of Bardolino Classico. Today, the third generation—Fabio and Paolo Valerio—leads the estate with a deep commitment to sustainable viticulture and ecological stewardship. Certified sustainable and focused on low-intervention practices, Le Morette specializes in wines that reflect the unique lake-influenced microclimate and glacial soils of the region.

2024 Demarie Langhe Nebbiolo, Piedmont, Italy $19.99
Demarie 2024 Langhe Nebbiolo is a youthful yet refined expression of Piedmont’s most noble grape, sourced from organically farmed young vines in the sandy, fossil-rich soils of Roero. Fermented with native yeast and aged in concrete vats, this unoaked wine opens with aromas of dark berry fruits, earth, cocoa, and dried flowers. On the palate, it offers medium body, vibrant acidity, and fine-grained tannins, with flavors of cherry, raspberry, and subtle herbal notes that lead to a fresh, lively finish. Its bright structure makes it an ideal pairing for roasted chicken, pork dishes, creamy pasta, casseroles, and younger cheeses like Taleggio or Fontina, where the wine’s acidity cuts beautifully through richness.

2022 Fratelli Grasso Barbera d'Alba "Matine", Piedmont, Italy $28.99
Only made in the best years, 'Matiné' is always deep opaque purple, with rich and abundant black cherry and a touch of tar. The finish is complex and powerful.

100% Barbera. After the 12-14 months in Botti for regular Barbera, it is transferred to used barrique for another 12-18 months. The used barrique tames the more powerful vintages.

Farming is under the “Green Experience” certification. No pesticides, no herbicides, anti-fungal are “bio.” Sexual confusion for pests, beans and other cover crops are planted between the rows every few years to fix nitrogen. Only manure for fertilizer.

2021 San Felice Bell 'Aja Bolgheri, Tuscany, Italy $28.99
Vibrant aromas of ripe cherry, redcurrant and rich dark fruit with notes of liquorice and cocoa. The palate is structured and complex with plum and bramble fruit and toasty oak characters. Juicy acidity and firm tannins on the long and polished finish. Pair with pasta with wild boar ragù (or failing that roast pork)! Good match with duck a l'orange too.

The dark red 2021 Bell'Aja opens to a layered cologne of fresh leather, tobacco leaf, cassis, forest earth, and cigar box. The palate is savory and full, with a snappy freshness of acidity, ripe, coiled tannins, and a good deal of length through the finish, with good focus. It’s going to improve with another few years in bottle, and I anticipate it drinking very well over the coming 15 or more years.

The vision of what could be teased out of Bell-aja is coming to fruition here. A Bright, lively, fresh, inviting nose opens onto a palate of wild Maine blueberries, espresso ristretto, Tellicherry pepper before bracing spearmint and salt on the finish. A fantastic wine, a screaming deal.

Bright and fresh nose with dark cherries, blackberries and hints of chocolate, licorice and wet stones. Some black olives, too. Medium- to full-bodied with a succulent, racy mid-palate and vivid acidity. Ripe and polished tannins and a lingering aftertaste. A tense and nicely shaped red. Drink or hold.
