The Wines
NV Jansz Premium Rose Brut, Tasmania $25.99
The Jansz Non Vintage Rose continues the tradition of the fresh house style of the Jansz NV premium Cuvee, whilst showcasing the beguiling aromatics inherent to Tasmanian sparkling Pinot Noir. With Pinot Noir the hero variety the delicious flavours of strawberries and cream, rose petals, turkish delight and fresh brioche are on full display. The palate shows more cream, texture and richness on the palate than the premium Cuvee whilst still retaining an elegant vibrancy.
Sourced from selected vineyard sites across Tasmanian ranging from the Pipers River and Tamar Valley regions in the North and the Coal River Valley in the South representing the best of sparkling Tasmania.
Classical Sparkling techniques are used throughout the winemaking process for this cuvee. Hand picking, gentle whole bunch pressing, cool fermentation, 100% MLF, complex assemblage and long ageing on lees after bottle fermentation, all combine to produce a stylish and complex wine. The final colour is the result of a hint of residual colour from the Pinot Noir skins and final liqueur.
2022 Bodega Garzon Albariño Reserva, Uruguay $21.99
This Albariño is of a pale yellow colour with greenish reflections and fruity aromas reminding of peach; balanced with citric notes. It is fresh and mineral with a marked acidity and a long and rounded aftertaste in mouth. Its ripening time takes place between 3 to 6 months on fine lees in stainless-steel tanks.
Excellent pairings for this wine are cod with cockles, citrus prawn salad, or traditional grilled seafood with warm mango salad and beans. It is delightfully well suited to Asian food, Peruvian ceviche, or a fresh tuna salad.
2024 Cousin Macul Antiguas Reservas Chardonnay, Valle Del Maipo, Chile $18.99
Cousiño Macul was one of the first Chilean vineyards to produce Chardonnay. The vines were originally established in the Maipo Valley with cuttings brought from Burgundy at the end of the 19th century. Since its debut in 1969, Antiguas Reservas Chardonnay has been crafted from these unique vines, preserved by Massal selection, which have never been cross-bred or sold.
Antiguas Reservas represents the finest selection of Chardonnay from the family's vineyards. The selection process begins with a yield restriction per plant and continues throughout the entire winemaking process. The old vines yield powerful, structured, and concentrated wines. Vinification and careful aging take place in a naturally climate-controlled cellar deep beneath the Macul Estate. Approachable, dependable, and age-worthy, Antiguas Reservas expresses the distinctive character of Chile at a remarkable value.
Cousiño Macul Antiguas Reservas Chardonnay displays aromas of pineapple, papaya, passion fruit, honey, and nuts. A touch of French oak adds balance and depth to this high-acidity, fresh wine.
2022 Domaine Nico Grand Pere Pinot Noir, Tupunngato, Uco Valley, Chile $28.99
The 2022 Grand Père originates from Villa Bastías in the Uco Valley and was aged for ten months in French oak, 18% in a 20-hectoliter foudre and 82% in third-use barrels. A bright cherry red in the glass. The nose presents herbal and fruity notes such as sage, sour cherry, subtle earthy undertones and delicate oaky aromas. The palate is lean, taut and refreshing. The interplay of tart flavors and the finely-grained, reactive tannic structure makes for a lively, dynamic experience before the long, compact, complex finish. Score: 92 points -- Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous, 2023
96 James Suckling
Scented grapefruit, red berries, minerals, freshly sliced strawberries and moss. Really pure, bright, tense and ethereal in form. Extremely long, juicy and so transparent. Beautiful and impeccable. 40% whole clusters. Drinkable now, but better from 2026.
91 Wine Spectator
Tilts savory, with loam, thyme, chicory and fresh tobacco details to the spiced black cherry and raspberry core. A push of acidity on the finish lends a mouthwatering quality. Drink now through 2030. 2,060 cases made, 850 cases imported.
2022 El Enemigo Cabernet Franc, Mendoza, Argentina $27.99

His tenure provides integrated oak notes of cedar and vanilla. Fresh impact and excellent structure on the palate, reminiscent of ripe red fruits with hints of eucalyptus and tagged black pepper. This wine has an excellent balance and elegance with a well-structured, persistent finish. Pair this Cabernet Franc with grilled game meats.
Blend: 90% Cabernet Franc, 10% Malbec
95 Jeb Dunnuck: The 2022 Cabernet Franc is high-toned, fresh, and mineral-driven, with supple tannin and unobtrusive oak. Medium-bodied, it's well put together and a screaming value for the modest price. This will age well given its natural mouthwatering acidity and firm structure; cellar through 2037.
94 James Suckling: Wet earth and elderberries shape the nose with a touch of dark chocolate. The velvety palate is medium- to full-bodied with a hint of cedar that complements the polished dark fruit. Approachable and exceptional for an entry-level wine.
94 Vinous: The 2022 Cabernet Franc contains 10% Malbec from Gualtallary. This aged for 15 months in foudres (50%), barrels (25%) and tanks (25%). Its aromas include soft ash, herbs, oak and rosehip on the nose. This is dry and juicy, with gentle chalk and vibrant fruit on the palate. The finish reveals a touch of pomegranate.
93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: Sourced from Gualtallary's Adrianna Vineyard, the 2022 Cabernet Franc contains 10% Malbec and underwent a 60-day maceration and aged for 15 months in a mix of foudre, barrique and tank. Opening with a dark-fruited, floral and spice-inflected nose, the palate offers dramatic richness tempered by a sturdy, upright, mineral-driven core. It concludes with an explosive, long and layered finish that balances vibrant energy and staining intensity. This is a strikingly overperforming example of the variety that should develop beautifully in the cellar. Rating: 93+
