2024 Patricia Green Sauvignon Blanc, Willamette Valley, Oregon $30.99
The 2024 Estate Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is our best effort of the nine vintages we have done (every vintage since 2015 except 2020). As usual, the Estate Vineyard bottling is fermented and goes through elevage in Acacia wood puncheons. The Acacia wood provides greater and rounder texture much the way an oak barrel does with Pinot Noir but rather than add the typical elements that a new oak barrel would add the Acacia would accentuates natural floral aromatics and definitely plays off any “lemony” flavors by concentrating them to a lemon meringue pie sort of flavor profile. The Estate Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is a denser, richer more stately version of Sauvignon Blanc than one would generally find in the universe of this grape. The 2024 version has a unique tension to it between its tropical lime-infused papaya notes and the crystalline minerality that is on display at a level we have never experienced before. As is always the case, it is at once very high in acidity but rich in texture which adds to the complexity of the fruit/minerality interplay in the wine and makes the wine profound even at a young age.
2017 Westrey Reserve Chardonnay, Dundee Hills, Willamette Valley, Oregon $41.99
The 2017 Dundee Hills bottling consists 100% of 41-year-old Draper Selection clonal material from Oracle, Westrey’s estate Vineyard, located in the Dundee Hills. Their old, own-rooted, non-irrigated vines really showed their greatness, producing a beautifully balanced and complete wine. It displays the broad, rich character of the 2017 vintage with the vibrant acidity from the first cool vintage in four years. Aromas of ripe pear and baked apple are accompanied by balanced fruit and wonderful natural acidity on the palate. The Chardonnay has a very “Burgundian” texture on the palate.
Each barrel was vinified separately in French oak using multiple a diversity of yeasts to increase complexity. The wine underwent a complete malo-lactic fermentation before bottling. It was left on the lees during the aging process to add a slight yeasty character and a velvety texture. This ten barrel lot had 15% new oak in it. After a traditional Burgundian clarification regime during cold-stabilization, the wine was bottled in September of 2018, without filtration, after 12 months on the lees. Only 268 cases produced.
2024 Ouest Rose, Columbia Valley, Washington $23.99
Ouest [pronounced wɛst], noun, (point cardinal, direction, situation) embodies the spirit of the Pacific Northwest as a wine-growing region.
Channeling some serious Mediterranean vibes here, with Sangiovese, Grenache, and Gamay blended and reflecting perfect salmon hues. Low fermentation temps (all in stainless tanks, natch) translate to gorgeous aromatics and fine minerality in the glass. Bring on the summer sun!
2023 Division-Villages Pinot Noir Methode Carbonique, Willamette Valley, Oregon $29.99
The Willamette Valley is typically one of the coolest and wettest major wine-growing regions in the U.S, which clearly favors the delicate, but seemingly boundless potential of the Pinot Noir grape, a variety that seems to show its best on the fringes of suitable grape farming area.
We are longtime fans of carbonic maceration, AKA Méthode Carbonique, and have been working hard to hone this amplifier for red berry deliciousness that just screams PINOT NOIR for over a decade. This wine hits a perfect spot with its roasted strawberries and a hint of forest floor.
2015 Westrey Pinot Noir Reserve, Willamette Valley, Oregon $42.99
In the glass, the wine shows a clear garnet hue with ruby edges. On the nose, aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, and dried rose petals lead, followed by forest floor, baking spice, and a subtle smoky edge from the oak. The palate is vibrant and structured, with a fine line of acidity supporting flavors of cranberry, black tea, and crushed herbs. Tannins are firm but well-integrated, suggesting additional development potential. The finish is long and savory, carrying tones of red fruit, clove, and mineral tension.
Westrey Wine Company operates from McMinnville, Oregon, in the Willamette Valley. Founded in 1993 by Amy Wesselman and David Autrey, Westrey is a partnership in shared experience and a long-term vision for Oregon Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
2023 Ouest Red, Columbia Valley, Washington $24.99
A unique blend of three classic red grapes; two from Italy one from France. Bold but
not overpowering with flavors and aromas of herbs, smoked meats, purple and red
flowers and dark berries.
The Ouest Rosso is sourced from organic and sustainably farmed sites throughout the western Columbia Valley. Each of the vineyards we work with were picked in the early mornings in mid to late October and fermented with varying levels of whole cluster inclusion.
The vineyards here, which thrive in a dry and warm climate, are home to some of the most interesting and under-the-radar plantings of Italian grape varieties, such as the featured Sangiovese and Nebbiolo, and also the French variety Syrah - all three of which we have brought together in this first bottling of our new, sun-kissed bold red.
